Patients on Jobseekers Allowance

(Evidence of Eligibility)

There are two types of Jobseekers Allowance : Income-based JSA and Contribution-based JSA.

It is only people in receipt of Income-based JSA that automatically qualify (and their partners) for NHS sight tests and vouchers, in the same way as if they were receiving Income Support.

People on Cotribution-based JSA may be entitled to to partial help under the NHS Low Income Scheme (Click Here to Find out More)

People on Income Based Jobseekers allowance are unlikely to have any evidence to prove that they receive this benefit, and as such the NHS does not require any kind of proof.

You will automatically qualify for a free NHS sight test and help towards the cost of your lenses - there is usually a small amount to pay, which varies depending on your prescription.
